Each Network member has a proven track record of delivering positive change through design support to local authorities, developers and communities throughout the planning process.  Design support includes training, community engagement, economic development, design workshops and reviews, neighbourhood planning support and Building for Life 12 assessments.  We work closely with national and local professional bodies across England.

Design Review is an extremely helpful technical resource which offers applicants and design teams clear, constructive comments and guidance on schemes, encouraging their improvement and progression early in the design process where changes can improve design quality and enhance viability. The expert panels see both housing and street schemes at all scales, from inception through to planning stage.  The service can be used by local authorities to assess the design quality of schemes submitted for planning approval.

Building for Life 12 is the industry standard, endorsed by Government endorsed, for well-designed homes and neighbourhoods that local communities, local authorities and developers are invited to use to stimulate conversations about creating good places to live. Recently updated to reflect the New National Planning Policy Framework and the need to build more homes, better homes and involve communities in planning.
